This book is the third in a series of Pearl Power books, written and illustrated by Mel Elliott and influenced by her daughter, Pearl. Each book is designed to tackle the subject of gender equality but in a very simple and light-hearted way. 'At the age of four' Elliott says, 'my daughter declared that she knew that boys become doctors and girls become nurses. I was furious that our children are fed this nonsense by TV, films, toys and advertising. It s coming at them, sometimes inadvertently but usually intentionally, from all angles and it s incredibly limiting for both boys and girls. I felt I had to do something to counteract it and Pearl Power was born.' Book addressing same sex parents aimed at 4-7 year olds. <i> Pearl Power and the Girl with Two Dads</i> features a new girl at Pearl s school who has same sex parents. Pearl thinks this is all very different and cool but eventually finds out that it's nothing to get excited about.
