composer and five time oscar winner john barry obe was famous for his work on 'born free', 'out of africa' and the james bond films. this is a repackage of three john barry cds from the 1990s. the emi years covering 1957-1964. volumes 1 and 2 were first issued in 1993, volume 3 was issued in 1995. deleted for many years as physical, but available digitally. contains all his major recordings including the complete 'stringband' album, singles, a's and b's. david toop who wrote the original sleeve notes is writing new sleeve notes for this release. (david toop is a writer and musician who was member of the flying lizzards, he interviewed john barry many times. he is also a contributor to 'the wire' music magazine). sadly, john barry died in new york on january 30th 2011.
