Sacred Bones Label Focus

SACRED BONES RECORDS

Sacred Bones Records was founded in a basement in Brooklyn in 2007. Like so many labels, it started out as a way for label owner Caleb Braaten to release his friends’ music. It quickly grew into a bigger operation, while retaining the DIY ethos that defined its early days. Sacred Bones has become synonymous with forward-thinking, dark-tinted music, releasing landmark albums by artists like Zola Jesus, Jenny Hval, and Pharmakon, as well as fostering the music careers of the great directors David Lynch, John Carpenter, and Jim Jarmusch.

Rough Trade NYC's Tommy sat down with Caleb to talk about the history of the label, working in record shops and his favourite projects so far.
